No single attribute is as important as thermal protection when it comes to protecting firefighters.  Basofil® fiber “Blocks Heat Better” as demonstrated by the highest Thermal Protective Performance (TPP) values in the industry and the highest protection on the Thermal Manikin test.   Basofil fiber has the lowest thermal conductivity of any fiber traditionally used in the marketplace.  This means it is more resistant to heat transfer than any other fiber.  More heat is blocked on the outside keeps firefighters’ cooler inside.

Test results on Basofil fiber fabrics far exceed the requirements set in the American NFPA 1971 and the European EN 469 standards.

Basofil fiber is also used in Vilene® (www.vilene.com) moisture barrier and thermal liner substrates where its superior thermal stability and resistance to heat shrinkage aids manufacturing and adds a margin of safety not found in other substrates.

In addition, Basofil fiber can be found in hoods, gloves, straps and blankets (www.kovenex.com).
